Mixed Gases 101

August 2, 2016

Beer%20Faucets_jpg[1]

The beer brewing industry is a major economic force in America with a very profitable product…

DRAFT BEER

As the craft beer industry grows, it becomes increasingly important to achieve that perfect pour.  N2 is the key ingredient for providing the extra pressure necessary to propel the beer through a draft beer system, and also the main ingredient for obtaining the cascading effect which results in the tiny bubbles and desired creamy texture that customers are anxiously awaiting.  The desirable blend of gas to maintain keg quality is typically 75% N2, 25% CO2. Too much CO2 in the blend will cause foam and over-carbonation, resulting in waste when disposing the foam.  Too little CO2 in the mix will cause the beer to go flat.  The right amount will cause you to glance sideways down the bar at the person who just ordered that beer and think to yourself…Damn that beer looks good!!

The Green Initiative

Liberty Systems can help breweries with their efforts toward
SUSTAINABILITY &
GREEN PRACTICES
Breweries are hoping to integrate sustainability into their business and finding ways to GO GREEN. The effects of climate change are beginning to threaten the industry, putting the future of great beer at risk. Warming temperatures can harm the production of hops, a critical ingredient of beer. In turn, CO2 emissions can directly contribute to climate change. Breweries are showing leadership and commitment to brewing with the climate in mind by finding ways to reduce CO2 emissions into the environment, reducing spillage and waste, and maintaining energy efficient equipment.
We were able to assist local brewery, Sweet Mullets of Oconomowoc, in reducing their CO2 usage by 50-60% using our N2 Generator. Sweet Mullets’ applications of the generator include transferring during the kegging process, purging the Bright Tank, and also integrating mixed gasses on site in their tap room. Liberty Systems provides its customers a safe, economical alternative to bulky, high pressure cylinders using nominal space and energy through a quiet, efficient process.

Liberty Systems Delivers Nitrogen Generator for Koch Pipeline Company

January 26, 2016

Koch Pipeline owns and operates oil and gas pipeline systems.. When they needed a nitrogen generator for their oil terminal in Southwest, TX they turned to the experts at Liberty Systems. With our experience in designing and developing nitrogen generation systems, Koch was confident that we would be able to handle the challenges of this project, getting the job done, and getting it done right.

Collaborating with several engineering firms, we worked to meet the precise specifications required for this project. In order to meet the nitrogen needs of this exact oil terminal, we needed to develop a large membrane based nitrogen generator for blanketing crude oil tanks at the terminal. The final system was made up of two Kaeser oil injected screw air compressors (200 and 250 HP), that work in tandem, to produce air required to feed the nitrogen plant. Air separation and membranes were installed into a 10’ x 20’ shipping container. The mobility of the system enables easy transport to other facilities, while allowing us to better manage the interior climate for appropriate air separation.

The blanketing system developed for this project improved safety at the oil terminal and continues the Koch Pipeline mission to make safety a top priority. The transportation of crude oil, refined petroleum products, natural gas, and chemicals requires serious attention to safety for employees, surrounding communities, and the environment. Koch Pipeline has been the recipient of the Distinguished Award for Outstanding Safety and Environmental Performance from the American Petroleum Institute in 2011 and 2012; the highest award for large pipeline operators, presented by the American Petroleum Institute (API). The project also earned API’s Environmental Performance Award for three consecutive years: 2011, 2012 and 2013.

Celebrate the Recent Progress in U.S. Manufacturing

September 30, 2015

In each of our blog posts, you generally see us talking about everything related to nitrogen generator systems, including many of the specific industrial applications for our products and services. There’s a lot to talk about: modified atmosphere packaging, laser and plasma cutting, inert blanketing and purging, gas blenders, and more! But today, we’re taking a “big-picture view” of what’s happening in U.S. manufacturing as we all prepare for National Manufacturing Day this Friday, October 2nd!

In the past several months, in one way or another, it seems as though many involved with U.S. manufacturing have been impacted by positive gains and progress. Recent news and industry reports mention “better-than-expected economic data,” “U.S. industrial output jumps,” and “more manufacturing jobs.” In fact, the National Association of Manufacturers (NAM) offers a lot of positive data and information on their website that highlights recent manufacturing news and success.

NAM reports, “Manufacturers contributed $2.09 trillion to the economy [in 2014]. This figure has steadily risen since 2009 when manufacturers contributed $1.73 trillion.” NAM also states that “manufacturing supports an estimated 17.6 million jobs in the United States—about one in six private-sector jobs. More than 12 million Americans (or 9 percent of the workforce) are employed directly in manufacturing.”

As a producer of nitrogen generator systems, the Liberty Systems’ team is encouraging everyone involved in the U.S. manufacturing industry to celebrate all of the exciting news and progress in our industry today. With all that has been recently said and done, it is time to look forward to worthy news and continued progress that is yet to come. Happy Manufacturing Day from Liberty Systems!

Liberty Systems Nitrogen Gas Assist Case Study

August 31, 2015

At Liberty Systems we provide our nitrogen gas generators to a variety of customers in a broad range of industries. One customer, Dane Mfg., a precision metal fabrication and stamping company approached us to help them reduce their wasted nitrogen. The company was using a micro-bulk nitrogen from another major company. Dane Mfg. was losing money due to missed nitrogen deliveries and ended up wasting nitrogen due to evaporation. This loss caused them to reduce their production schedule, which caused an additional loss of revenue.

Liberty Systems was able to design a P7-2000 system that met Dane Mfg.’s needs of 2000 SCFH of nitrogen at 99.5% purity and a delivery pressure of 325psig. The system uses Dane Mfg.’s in-house compressed air supply to feed the system. The new system was able to save Dane Mfg 66% on their nitrogen costs and with a, now, consistent source of nitrogen the company could increase production.

Additionally, we noticed the company was cleaning the mirrors on their beam pathway every 30 days, which lead to unwanted down time. Liberty Systems developed a solution that reduced the need to clean the mirrors to once every 9-12 months allowing the company to reduce maintenance downtime.

Dane Mfg. has been so satisfied with their new system from us that they are expanding their system. This is an additional benefit of Liberty Systems, as we are able to produce systems for clients that can grow with the company’s needs.

Liberty Systems Announces New M3 Draught Grade Nitrogen Generator

July 27, 2015

At Liberty Systems we are always working to improve our products to better serve our customers, which is why we’re excited to announce our newest generator for beverage dispensing. The M3 Draught Grade nitrogen generator is all about pouring the perfect pint each time. We have designed the most reliable beverage-dispense nitrogen generator on the market with the highest peak-demand output.

The Series M3 was engineered to produce a minimum 99.7% or greater N2 which meets Brewers Association standards at greater efficiency than any other beverage-dispense generator. Additionally, the on-demand operation means that no external storage vessel is required, which means there is more valuable back-of-house space available. There is no need to stop and change HP (high-pressure) cylinders during a busy period of the day and no calls in the middle of the night informing you that the system is down.

Pouring the perfect pint and reduced downtime allows restaurants or bars to be more profitable. The Series M3 is designed to operate at a lower temperature and higher efficiency that means less run time. This patented cooling systems helps to add to the longevity of the system as a whole. Liberty Systems provides a connection port for a HP nitrogen cylinder in case of power outage or routine maintenance.
